Overview
The safari is customizable can start in Entebbe, Kampala or Kigali. The safari takes you to two parks were you will be able to track gorillas and chimps. Kibale NP is located in western Uganda and it’s one of the greatest rain forest in Africa. This park is famous for the chimps and many other primate species. Bwindi NP was opened to tourists in 1993 and it harbors 348 bird species, 120 mammal species, 220 butterfly species, 27 species of chameleons, frogs, and the geckos, 163 species of trees.
Itinerary
Depart from Entebbe after your early morning breakfast as you head to Bwindi found in South Western Uganda a home to the rare mountain Gorillas. Along the way you will have spectacular views from the landscape which starts from the flat lands to the rolling steep hills, its really a breathtaking journey.
Have lunch en-route in Mbarara and later proceed to Bwindi arriving in the late afternoon. Check in at your preferred lodge, whatever lodge you choose will give you the feel and view of the park together with the amazing sounds of water flowing and birds in the thick forest. Enjoy your dinner and overnight.
Have your breakfast early enough and pack your lunch, after which you will be taken to the park headquarters by your driver guide. You will have a briefing from the Park rangers at 8:00am concerning the rules in the park, what to do and not to do when you meet up with the gorillas. Tracking Gorillas takes between 2 and 8 hours.
Thereafter, you will start off with tracking ensure you carried enough drinking water, strong shoes, a jacket and a walking stick. When you meet up the gorillas its your dream come true as it will be a great time watching the playful juveniles, the silverbacks and also other gentle giants feed the young ones.
Take as much photos as you want with your camera flash off. Later head back to your lodge and rest. In the evening you go for Batwa trail, this will give you chance to interact with these people, learn how they live and also watch them perform their traditional dances and songs. Return back t the lodge, have dinner and Overnight.
Start your day with a tasty breakfast and check-out from the lodge and start off your journey to Kibale National Park. A lot will be enjoyed on this thrilling journey including the scenery in Kabale.
You will have a stop to take photo if there is need as you continue to Kibale arriving late evening. Proceed and check in at the lodge, have dinner before you sleep you could opt for an evening forest walk where you will be able to see some bush babies (this is based on the accommodation facility you are using).
Thereafter return to the lodge and rest since you will be having a long interesting day tomorrow.
After your early morning breakfast, proceed to the park for Chimpanzee tracking, it is an amazing experience. You will also have an opportunity to see beautiful birds and other primates such as the White and Black colobus monkeys, Baboons, L’Hoest’s monkeys, Grey cheeked mangabeys among others. On meeting the chimpanzees, it will be amazing as you will watch them jump on different branches, watch them feed and play, you will also see nests in which they rest/sleep.
Take enough photos but with your camera flash off. Later return back for lunch at the lodge, check out and get back on the road to Kampala to your hotel or Entebbe that is if your flight is on that very day.
